PERSONAL HYGIENE FOR KIDS
It is important to have good personal hygiene for both health and social reasons. It involves keeping our hands, feet, head and body clean to avoid the spread of the spread of germs and illness.
Your personal hygiene benefits your own health and impacts the lives of those around you, too. It reduces the issue of body odour which may lead to embarrassment at school.
It is important to always care for our hands by:
- Washing our hands regularly entails we wash our hands:
- Before eating or cooking food
- Before carrying up a baby
- After visiting the toilet
- After coughing or sneezing, or being in contact with someone who is ill
- After being in contact with animals
- After playing
Care of the Mouth
Caring for your teeth and practicing good oral hygiene wards off gum disease, bad breath, tooth decay and many infections. Remember to always:
- Brush your teeth twice a day – after breakfast, and before bed time
- Floss the teeth daily and fill your mouth with water and swish it around to get rid of anything sticking to your teeth.
- Keep your tooth brush in a clean, dry place and replace it every three month.
Bathing and Care of the Feet
Take your bath every day using water and soap. It is advised to take your bath twice a day when the weather is warm. Daily bathing is an integral part of good personal hygiene.
Areas to concentrate on while bathing involves, your armpits, groins, neck, belly, knees, elbows, back, feet and every other parts of your body
- Take your bath at least twice daily with soap and water to prevents body odour.
- Skin infections such as Athlete’s Foot can be reduced by carefully washing and drying the affected areas daily.
- Shampoo and condition your hair at least once a week to keep the scalp clean and prevent head lice.
To keep your hair clean we must:
- Wash your hair regularly with soap and/or shampoo And massage it very well to remove dirt, excess oil and dead skin.
- Rinse your hair very well with clean water.
- use a wide toothed comb for wet hair as it is easier to pull through.
- Wash your clothes after each use so that these germs and dirt can be removed.
- Press your cloths with pressing iron to keep it neat
- Change your Underclothes daily because they are right next to your skin and collect dead skin cells and sweat.
- It protect us from the spread of germs and diseases
- It keeps us healthy, because poor hygiene can lead to poor health.
- It boosts our self esteem and confidence.
- It prevents body odour.
- It reduces the risk of being bullied.
